“A euphoric economic wave inspires creativity”
The Season opens with a powerful sentiment of euphoria within the trade.
Manufacturers, Brands, Designers introduced innovation in design and technology, bringing new knowledge and awareness to consumer culture.
This season, fine jewelry blends into exuberant codes with a fascinating new language and a further stretch into innovation and technological research in new plating, finishes, materials, stone settings, and lightweight adaptable products. Jewelry techniques have evolved, opening up ways to translate consumers’ needs with wearable, functional and collectable pieces. Many Italian jewelry exporters have driven forward technical innovation to ensure that their products are truly unique in the marketplace, reinforcing their capacity for “extreme” craftsmanship and superlative creative “design DNA”, forged sometimes in the same family over generations, to hone exquisite jewelry.
Innovations seen across the “Made in Italy” sector at the Vicenzaoro January trade show include diamond-cut gold beads with multiple facets that make the jewelry shimmer like diamonds (D’orica); developments in gold electroplating; stretchable (Xpandable) diamond bracelets (Picchiotti); hollowed-out gold jewelry permitting larger sizes, and new technologies enabling manufacture of gold jewelry in a range of unusual colors, such as green and orange (Annamaria Cammilli). Colored gemstones are the best companions of non-conventional new plating, bringing splashes of energy and allure to traditional jewelry collections. Multiple layers and color stacks are displaying a new irreverent symbolism of color combinations, setting the tone of a new Era of jewelry. Edgy and provocative designs are setting new values and aesthetic codes and ways of wearing jewelry, with a strong wave of personalization, cultural clashes, and a mix & match combination of Hi-Lo style. Gold is mixed with enamel, and alternative materials, once used mostly in fashion jewelry, with refined aesthetics, bring a new casual post-pandemic allure, revealing new ways of feeling comfortable. Contrasts are popular; from bold statement pieces to minimal and petite dangling elements, opening up a new exploration towards freedom and personalization. Jewelry is a very personal way to Self-expression, to state one’s personality values, gender, cultural and spiritual directions.
