Italy, renowned for its rich cultural heritage and artistic flair, has long been a global hub for creativity and design, for example the jewelry industry. For centuries, Italian artists have captivated the world with their exquisite craftsmanship, innovative technique and timeless designs. Nowadays, Italy continues to keep its high standards of excellence in jewelry, combining traditional craftsmanship with modern technology to create unparalleled pieces of wearable art. Italian craftsmen are renowned for their skillful workmanship of precious metals and gemstones, transforming them into breathtaking creations that embody elegance and sophistication.
During the first week of June, Las Vegas will become the pole of attraction for all the jewelry industry. Every Maison has its own personality, yet each one has an Italian soul made of good taste, avant-garde techniques for the joy of dealers and enthusiasts.
The Group under the banner of the Italian Trade Agency is varied and chosen for its unique characteristics and specificity.
Ippolita’s jewelry, founded by Ippolita Rostagno, expresses its innovation by using techniques typical of sculpture. Many shapes are created directly imprinting them on Ippolita’s body and that of other women, by applying wax plates on the hollow between the collarbones, on an elbow or on the forearm. Great importance is given to wearability: the jewels are light and can be worn any time of the day or evening. Several are double-sided jewels, amazing from whatever side you look at them: irregularities and asymmetry are their characteristics, typical of untreated raw materials and of the irregular gemstones that are used.
During my interview Ippolita said: “Traditionally jewelry was a gift-oriented purchase, but my jewelry is different because it is purchased almost entirely by women who are economically independent and don’t feel the need to consult their husbands. The times are right for a change!”
Another brand run by a woman is Mattioli whose soul is the eponymous Licia.
Her original and distinctive collections are colorful and joyful. Licia imagines a Mattioli woman: a protagonist of her life with a dynamic yet sophisticated femininity. Her creations are an extension of their attitudes and personalities. Licia transposes her love for travel, art and lifestyle into her joyful and accurately made creations, conveying the Italian savoir faire.
The Puzzle collection features interchangeable pieces that allow the wearer to adapt the jewelry according to her feelings. The innovation of this iconic collection is the ease with which you can change colors and the personalisation.
SICIS Jewels realise micromosaic jewelry, a centuries-old technique to which this brand gave new life and style in an innovative way. The preciousness and the unique designs are the emblem of this Maison famous for its creations that amaze the world, such as the Damisa Ice set, a new edition of an iconic collection symbol of Sicis that features a leopard with eyes of fire. The body of the leopard is adorned by a diamond-pavé capturing the light at each movement. “The timeless beauty of our micromosaic jewels deserves to be discovered worldwide and for this reason, we decided to expand our presence in the US,” said Creative Director Gioia Placuzzi.
Mattia Cielo has a revolutionary approach to design. This luxury brand uses the latest technology to appeal to the modern woman. They create ergonomic jewels which are comfortable, flexible and easily adapted.
Picchiotti, founded by Giuseppe Picchiotti in 1967 in Valenza, is famous for their xpandable collections able to adapt to the size of the client’s wrist or finger due to an invisible mechanism of hidden springs on the inside of the pieces. Let’s say that today comfort is the new luxury!
Casato Gioielli are renowned for their constant pursuit of innovation in the world of fine jewelry. From its inception, the brand has striven to push the boundaries of traditional craftsmanship, blending it seamlessly with contemporary design and cutting-edge technology. Audacious and sinuous jewelry with a pinch of Orientalism is characteristic of their collections such as Yasmeen that showcases floral forms never seen before in nature. Casato’s pieces are bold, edgy, and distinctively modern.
The recent Crivelli’s Like Chromatic collection through the Tribute to the Planet project, a collaboration with master photographer Fabrizio Ferri, showcases Nature and the beauty of our planet that must be preserved. The design of the jewelry is embellished with various elements such as malachite, cornelian, onyx, coral, turquoise, mother-of-pearl, tiger’s eye and lapis lazuli in a very original way.
The motto is strong and free.
